THE TYPICAL WELCOME SPIEL!
Welcome to the site! As you probably know we are all here to have fun. That being said we also want to maintain a pleasant environment for everyone involved. So, of course there needs to be a few ground rules, so please bare with us. As always, feel free to contact the staff with any questions, comments, problems, or concerns, we are here to help!
GENERAL
First things first. We must point out that this site is targeted for 18+. So, please respect that. Also, due to the nature of this site and story, sex, mature language, and violence are bound to occur, but please keep it within the Proboards TOS.
To follow up and to clarify for each:
Sex is allowed by the means of implications and fading. As things heat up, please, skip the details.
Language in the form of swearing is also allowed. Just nothing to excess, we don't want a character that curses every other word.
Violence this is the area where is gets a little bit shady. Considering the nature of the plot we understand how this plays a major role. However, most is generally aloud but please (as it was for sex) fade or skip ahead before it gets too graphic. We strongly suggest you contact the staff if you are unsure about this.
If you know that your thread will contain any triggers (sex, drugs, violence, self-harm, etc) please post a trigger warning in the title.
PLOT
Please make sure you have read the site's plot in full. It's not that long and it's there for a reason. For those who haven't read the books there is also a brief summary of each, it will help. All and any questions concerning the plot are welcomed and encouraged.
CHARACTERS & ACCOUNTS
There are canon characters but we also welcome originals. Originals don't have much in the way of restrictions (for now), however we ask that you don't make any Mary Sues. No one is perfect, and neither are your characters. When making an original be sure to check out the group guide. It will help to gain further understanding for the site, plot, and how characters are evaluated. In regards to the canons, if you are interested feel free to apply but please make sure you understand the character as well as be sure that you will be able to maintain a healthy activity on the site. If you are unsure of anything regarding character creation (either canon or original) please do not hesitate to contact the staff before applying. It will make the application process much smoother.
You may have more than one character but each MUST have their own account (with the one exception being for twins). You may make an account with whatever username you'd like but please change the display name to your character's first and last name.
You may have as many characters as you wish but decent activity is a must. To prevent you from getting overwhelmed and to allow for all of your characters to stay active, please refer to this outline:
First Character: None Second Character: Minimum of 15 posts with the first OR one week with decent activity (at least one IC post a day) Third Character: Minimum of 20 posts each with the others. Fourth Character & Up: Minimum of 25 posts each with the others AND healthy activity. Regarding face claims they must be human (as silly as that sounds). We will not accept anime or no photo. Make sure they are someone who is considered a celebrity or famous (models and youtubers count). Also be sure to check the claims list before using a play by.
Keep graphics tasteful and the right size.
Avatars should be 250x250, BUT They can be any size as long as they are square.
Signatures should not exceed 500x250.
Please do not make any IC posts until you have been accepted, also after you have been accepted please make sure to post in all of the claims.
ACTIVITY
We understand that everyone has their own lives (so do we) and can be busy, however, we do appreciate decent activity. That being said RL (real life) ALWAYS comes first, whether it's school, work, health, family, vacation or any other personal issues or circumstances WE UNDERSTAND. So if you feel like you won't be on for a certain amount of time, NO WORRIES! Just make a post in the absences board and we will keep your character safe and sound.
We are not going to make a list about how many times a month you should post or be on etc, etc. Just know that there will be monthly sweeps to check for activity and if we find you to have disappeared without a word we will RETIRE your character NOT delete it. If you come back to find that your character has been retired not to worry! Just message a staff member and update your application and they will be moved out of retirement. If you wish to no longer participate in the site, please let a staff member know and your account will be handled accordingly.
IC (In Character) POSTING
There is currently no minimum word count. Feel free to post as much or as little as you wish. Please just post enough for someone else to respond. No one liners. If we find a lot of people posting next to nothing, we will create a word count. Good rule of thumb, one decent paragraph is a good start.
No God-moding. Meaning no controlling the other character without their permission. If you want something to happen to their character or yours, you should discussed OOC first.
You can post in whatever way you see fit (with templates or not). We just as that you please make sure posts are readable (font colors, fonts, spell check, etc).
When a thread is finished please post a link to the completed thread thread and it will be moved. Also, if you find an incomplete thread has been moved (probably because of inactivity), just message a staff member to move it back!
CBOX
The CBox is for everyone and it is meant of OOC conversation ONLY. This means no in character conversations or extensive plotting (please leave that for the plot pages or PMs). Most importantly please be kind and respectful. We hope that everyone will be inclusive and that this will not be an issue.
OOC (Out of Character) POSTING
With regards to the rest of the site and you (not your character). We ask that you be friendly and welcoming. We understand that not everyone agrees all the time but at least be tolerant. Do not attack anyone for their beliefs or be disrespectful. If you feel like you have been personally disrespected, attacked, shunned, outcasted in anyway way (but are not limited to: racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, etc.) PLEASE CONTACT A STAFF MEMBER. We want to have a pleasant and joyful environment.
This also includes clique posting. Please do not only post with the same handful of members. We understand that for plot purposes (personal and site) you may have a lot of threads with a certain person or characters and that is fine. But we ask and encourage people to post with everyone. Even if it's not essential to your personal plot. Who knows maybe something will spark, but you won't know if you don't try! Be sure to check out open threads, plot pages, and wanted ads to try and collaborate with everyone.
Also, be courteous to everyone's individual writing habits. Do not constantly bother someone about posting, plots, or threads. Everyone is set at a different pace as well as has their own RL (real life) to deal with. If you feel like you have been neglected, feel free to politely remind them, they may have forgotten. On the flip side if you have lost muse for that thread do not just ignore it and the person. Please reach out and let them know. Maybe you can start something new, or maybe you just need to take a break. Either way don't leave them hanging, and if someone wants to end a thread don't take it personally!
FINALLY
Thanks for taking the time to read this! They are subject to change, but until then enjoy and welcome to the site! P.S. Keep in mind important links as well as staff are listed at the top of the site on every page!
